This past Sunday, on November 9, 2025, the Stevens Bowling Team competed in its last tournament of the fall semester at the Black and Gold Classic, held at Leisure Lanes in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This tournament consisted of 3 team games and 10 baker games. The oil pattern used at this tournament was the 2021 SYC Super Slam Long pattern, a 42-foot oil pattern with a smaller volume compared to other patterns. This meant that the lanes would break down a lot quicker than in other tournaments, and the team would have to adjust quickly to score well. This tournament, we brought our Varsity, JV1, and JV2 teams. Varsity bowled spectacularly with amazing high games of 259 and 249 by Cameron Folgre, 264 by
Matthew Calabrese, 217 by
Mauro Derosa, and 257 and 235 in their baker games. With their spectacular performances, Cameron Folgore placed 1st individually with an average of 240, and
Matthew Calabrese placed 2nd individually with an average of 223. Not only that, our Varsity team placed 1st overall in the Varsity division, leading by almost 300 pins from the 2nd place team, winning a plaque.
JV1 bowled fairly well with high games of 235 by
Alexander Kozak, 203 by Luna Cusick, 194 by Sam Shylam, and 186 in their baker games. Their performance placed them 4th in the JV division.
JV2 bowled strongly with notable games of 211 by
Lucas Gomez, 202 by
Michael Santos, 189 by
Robert Kirschner, and 192 during their baker games. Additionally, despite being his first year here,
Lucas Gomez ranked 35th individually! JV2 placed 7th overall in the JV division.
This was our last tournament for the semester, and we couldn't have ended it any better. We hope we can use this victory to grow even stronger as a team and take on the tournaments next semester with our heads held high.
