This past weekend, from 12/7/24 to 12/8/24, the Stevens Bowling Team ended the semester by competing in the Northeast Classic. Unlike the last two tournaments we competed in this semester, this one lasted for two days. On Saturday, the team bowled 5 team games, and on Sunday, 8 baker games. Both days had different oil patterns which meant that the strategies that the team needed to develop had to be different to accommodate the different lane conditions. Both the Varsity and JV teams competed.
On the first day of the tournament, the Varsity team did very well with high scores of 243, 222, and 219 by captain CJ Folgore, 213 by Mauro Derosa, and 207 by Alexander Kozak. What's more, due to his stellar performance, CJ Folgore placed 6th overall out of 107 bowlers present in this tournament. The JV team also did pretty well with high games of 201 by Samuel Shlyam, 189 by Chris Almuete, and 186 by Breanna Tolocka.
On the second day of the tournament, the Varsity team performed strongly in their baker games with great scores of 222, 213, and 199, averaging a score of 184 through all 8 games. The JV team performed well with a high game of 202, maintaining an average of 156. The Varsity team ended up placing 6th in the Varsity Division, and the JV placing 6th in the JV Division.
All in all, both teams bowled well and had a great time. This was our last tournament of the semester and we are looking forward to competing next semester.
