Heavy Breeze, Tight Racing: Coast Guard Invitational Recap

04.08.26

Day one of the J70 Regatta started with a crazy NNE breeze, which promptly died, shifted east briefly, and then became a very strong SE wind. Five races were sailed in the 12-25 knot Southeasterly, 4 of which had kites up. The challenging winds, coupled with the competitiveness, caused some mishaps across all the teams and ultimately led to a very interesting day of sailing. Day 2 of the J70 Regatta saw a 4-12 knot SW breeze and a mostly slack tide on the Thames. 4 races were sailed, and the weekend was wrapped up.
