The game kicked off at 8:50 PM on time. Stevens opened the scoring through Lupo, who latched onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Matt Bartelli, giving the home side a 1-0 lead. Andrew Lambert, making his return from injury, extended the lead to 2-0 with a clinical finish. The momentum was firmly with Stevens, but Seton Hall responded just before halftime, taking advantage of a defensive lapse to make it 2-1 going into the break. In the second half, Seton Hall began to find their rhythm. Despite Stevens maintaining pressure, Seton Hall mounted a comeback in the final 20 minutes, scoring twice to overturn the deficit and take a 3-2 lead.
