Men's Soccer Information
About:
The Men's Club Soccer Team is a club sport team that competes in NIRSA Region 1 where we play universities from New Jersey, Long Island and New York. The structure of NIRSA Region 1 allows for regular season play, ending in regional tournaments that can lead to national qualification.
Frequently Asked Questions:
When does the season start?
The season begins with practices starting in September and games soon after. Our fall portion usually ends within the first few weeks in November. We typically begin our spring portion of the season a few weeks into February ending in mid to late April.
What is the game schedule like?
We will play around 4 games guaranteed each semester with performance-based tournaments at the end. In the fall we often have 6-8 games due to a bigger conference which includes out-of-conference games to balance out our schedule. Games are 90% of the time on weekends unless a reschedule of a game or conflict occurs.
How often does the team practice?
Generally, we practice at least once/twice a week on DeBaun Athletic Field, typically on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at around 9:00 pm. Time is dependent on field availability.
What are practices like?
Our practices are outdoors on the turf, lasting 90 minutes with a warmup, technical work, possession drill, small sided and scrimmage.
Do I have to play both semesters?
While we encourage team membership during both semesters, students are not required to play for both semesters.
Does it cost money to play?
Yes. Players must pay dues each semester to be on the team. Dues will generally be between $100 and 200 dollars per semester. More significant membership will lead to dues being cheaper.
What do my dues fund?
Dues go towards our league membership, paying our coach, and paying for transportation to each of our away games.
Do we have jerseys and equipment?
Our team has jerseys and shorts given out on gameday. Socks, cleats and shin guards must be brought for games
