Stevens A:
Stevens A played their first match against Villanova A.
Kaiden Garces-Johannes had huge
swings and scored many points, however Stevens A still fell short 25-20. In the second set,
Stevens A rallied around
Justin Monahan's serves and sets, in order to win a hard fought set,
26-24. Despite everyone's efforts, Stevens A fell short in the third set 15-9.
For the second match of the day, Stevens A faced off against TCNJ.
Shawn Aviles played
incredible defense, however Stevens A lost a close set, 26-24. In the second set, Marc
Chesnowitz used strategic swings and helped Stevens win the set, 25-23. In the third set,
Calum Dudgeon's hard hits and timely blocks helped the team win 15-11.
Then Stevens A played Princeton University. Stevens A was able to claim a dominant first set
against Princeton, 25-19. However, in the second set Princeton rallied back and had hard hits
that won them the set, 25-23. In the last set, Henry Fung's ability to consistently score points
helped Stevens come back and win, 16-14.
The last game against East Stroudsburg University was canceled due to time restrictions.
Stevens B:
Stevens B started the day playing against Ryder B. Bobby Nelson fought hard and scored many
points through serves and back row swings. However, Stevens B still lost 23-25. The second set
was similar as Ryder B was able to barely squeak out a win against Stevens B, 23-25.
Then Stevens B played against Montclair A. Stevens B struggled passing against Montclair A
despite
Angelo Naro's passing and defense. Thus losing the first set 25-12. In the second set
Stevens B had a surge of points because of
Daniel Murdock's many swings and defense.
However, Stevens B still lost that set 25-21.
The third match of the day for Stevens B was against Lafayette.
Aaron Sprigle brought the
energy and the swings in order to score multiple points and claim the first set, 25-23. But,
Lafayette was able to rally back and score many points on the service line in order to win,
25-21. In the third set Stevens B wasn't able to recover from the loss in the second set and
unfortunately lost 15-13.
In the last game of the day for Stevens B, they played against Villanova B. Ryan Martinez's sets
were on point and created openings for his teammates to score. However they weren't quite
able to overcome Villanova B, losing both sets 25-17.
Both teams played hard this past weekend and are looking forward to continuing to try to win
their future matchups.
With a lot of games on the schedule for the semester both the A and B teams are looking
forward to competing.
