Men's Volleyball Information

About
The Men’s Club Volleyball Team, which started up in 2013, is a club sport for male students at Stevens who want to learn and play volleyball. We have 2 competing teams, Stevens A and Stevens B, with the A team being more competitive than the B team. Both teams are a part of the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Volleyball Conference (MACVC), which was established in 1992 and is a recognized conference of the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF). Within the conference, Stevens A is a part of the National Division, and Stevens B is a part of the Freedom Division.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What skill level do you have to be to play?

We accept players of all skill levels. Whether you have been playing volleyball for your entire life or have never picked up a volleyball, your prior experience does not matter when becoming a member.

How much are dues?
Dues may vary slightly depending on the semester, but one can expect to pay approximately $150-$165 per semester. This cost is required to practice and play with us. The cost goes towards various items such as new balls, travel for tournaments, conference dues, team uniforms, and more. We typically offer an open gym at the beginning of each semester for anyone interested to check out how we operate.

Can graduate students play?
Yes! You do not have to be an undergraduate student to practice and play with us. No matter if you are a PhD or a Master’s student, as long as you are a student at Stevens, you can play.

When does the season start?
Our conference league officially starts January 1st and goes until the end of April. However, games will typically start around the beginning of March. MACVC also offers preliminary scrimmages in the Fall.

How many tournaments/games do we have in a semester?
This also varies depending on the semester. Our league takes place in the Spring, so we have more games in the Spring semester than in the Fall. MACVC guarantees at least 3 dates of play, and a team may get more depending on how well they do. Between our league and private tournaments hosted by other schools, you can expect between 3-5 tournaments/games per semester.

What level of commitment is expected?
As a member of the club team, there is no obligation to go to any practices. You can go to as little or as many practices as you want. However, if you plan to travel and play competitively, you are expected to attend at least 75% of practices to be considered for a spot on the official roster.
