On Sunday, November 17th, Stevens Women's Club Volleyball traveled to Marist University. The tournament was a round-robin with 3 teams in each pool and then playoffs after. Stevens, Stony Brook B, and Marist were in the same pool. The Ducks brought 8 players, but none of the middles could make the tournament, so some girls had to try new positions.
Stevens began the day against Stony Brook B (21-25, 19-25). Outsides turned middle, Aditi Patel racked up 3 kills and 3 blocks. Setter
Kristy Chen aided the offense with 10 assists and 5 digs. Outsides
Amber Johns and
Lauren Kibalo had 4 kills and 3 kills respectively.
Next, Stevens took on Marist (19-25, 23-25). The Ducks held a closer game with this team. Stevens switched up their lineup and played
Amira Aquarian as middle where she had 3 kills and 2 blocks. Libero
Kira Chmielewski had 9 digs to contribute to a well fought matchup.
In their final game of the day, Stevens finished strong against University of Albany, in the playoffs. They won the first set (25-22) and lost the second set by a tight margin (23-25). The thirt set they just lost (12-15). Setter
Emily Liu had 1 kill, 12 assists, and 3 digs. Rightside
Sophia Zahran had 5 kills and 3 aces. The Ducks fought hard in this final game of the day.
Stevens worked well in their last tournament of the fall season. They tested their abilities individually in new positions. Their hard work showed on the court with minimal errors against challenging teams.
