Women's Volleyball Information

About:

The Women’s Club Volleyball Team is a club sport team that competes in the Northeast Women's Volleyball Club League (NWVCL) at the Division II level. The NWVCL has teams from all over the northeast. We play a schedule that occurs in the fall and spring, and we usually play teams from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. If we have a home tournament, it is usually played in the Canavan Arena. There is no skill level required. Experienced players and our coach are here to help anyone who is interested in learning!

Frequently Asked Questions:

When does the season start?
The season begins with practices starting in September and tournaments soon after. Our fall portion usually ends within the first few weeks in November. We typically begin our spring portion in late January.

What is the game schedule like?
We will play around 3-4 tournaments per semester. Tournaments usually take up a full day of the weekend. We travel anywhere between 1 to 3 hours to another school where we play in a pool of 5 teams. Top teams at the end of pool play enter the playoffs against the other pool’s top teams. The tournament schedule is released at the beginning of each semester. About a week before each tournament a poll is sent out to see who will be attending.

How often does the team practice?
Practices are typically twice a week in Canavan. Occasionally there may only be one a week due to gym availability.

What are practices like?
Practices are two hours long and are run by our coach and the E-board. They contain a mix of drills to teach and improve upon skills, along with various games to work on gameplay and have fun. Practices the weeks before and after tournaments may be more fine tuned to focus on specific areas based on the games.

Do I have to play both semesters?
While we encourage team membership during both semesters, students are not required to play for both semesters.
