Pitching for most of the game, Pat McDonough would give up 4 runs in the first inning to Rutgers. Another run was given up in the second but then Rutgers cooled down. Matt Lauri would bring the first run for Stevens in the second inning and in the next inning, Stevens would rally to score 5 runs coming from 3 straight doubles by Connor Hull, Matt Lauri, and Pat McDonough. Rutgers would answer by scoring two runs in the fourth. The game would get tied at seven through 4 innings. Stevens had another big inning scoring 4 more runs from doubles by Pat McDonough and Ian Brodbeck. Rutgers would gain another run in the sixth but not before Ian Brodbeck would walk around the bases from two wild pitches. Rutgers would score 3 more runs in the seventh but that would not be enough resulting in a 12-11 Stevens win.
