Dave Canales scored an unassisted goal at 15:57 in the first period. Rutgers responded with a goal at 7:55. Not long after Canales buried another goal with 3:09 left in the first period. Rutgers finished the period strong with a goal with only eight seconds remaining in the first period. In an attempt to score some goals, the Stevens powerplay turned over the puck and Rutgers scored another goal only a few seconds into the second. This gave Rutgers the momentum they needed to finish the second period with 3 more goals making the game 6-2. In an attempt to come back, #8
