Stevens traveled up to Albany to take on the Great Danes in a non-conference matchup. With multiple players missing from the Ducks lineup, they were looking to steal a road win with a short bench and avoid any more mid-season injuries. After a long ride through the city, it took the Ducks a period to get settled losing the first 2-1 in what would become a back-and-forth matchup. The second period saw the Ducks bring the game back to all square adding goals from
Tommy Vella and
Tyler Buss in the last minute of play to head into the final intermission tied. The Danes came out strong in the 3rd tallying three goals in less than two and half minutes to take an early 3 goal lead. The Ducks weren't ready to give up, bouncing back with goals from
Tom Bissaillon and Kevin Mcnamara before Albany scored on a short-handed breakaway to bring the game to 7-5 in favor of the Danes. Still not done, the Ducks battled back again adding a goal on the powerplay before
Tom Bissaillon tied it up on a penalty kill with two minutes remaining in the game. Unfortunately, the puck wasn't bouncing in favor of the Ducks and Albany buried a loose puck with 40 seconds left to win the game 8-7. The Ducks return to play against Ramapo College in their second matchup of the season on the 11th of October.
