The Ducks kick off Empire Conference play against Fairfield University at Barnabus Health Hockey House. As the newest member of the league Stevens is looking to make an impact from the jump and Dylan Faulhaber would take that into his own hands converting on a powerplay opportunity late in the first period to take the lead at 1-0. After an unassisted goal for the Fairfield Stags, it looked like the teams were going to head into the intermission tied at 1 until Nick Dahdah went coast to coast before dishing the puck to Paul Golembiewski as he notches his second of the season to give the Ducks the lead. Fairfield came out firing in the second period, scoring on two separate powerplays to take the lead 3-2. In a game defined by special teams it ended up being the Ducks powerplay that would seal the game as Kevin McNamara tipped home his second of the season before freshman Hayden Fitzpatrick buried a loose puck to once again take the lead with 6 minutes left in the second. Stevens' defense rallied in the third in front of goaltender Brendan Breschard to hold the game at 4-3 as Breschard finishes with 42 saves picking up his first win of the season. Facing injuries and a short bench the Ducks face a non-conference weekend traveling to the University of Albany on the 4th of October before returning to take on Stockton University on the 6th.
