Stevens Edged by Farmingdale in a Classic

03.10.26

Heartbreaking loss to Farmingdale State University on the 23rd of January.
Ducks open it up with a deflection goal from #23 Captain Tyler Buss, scoring in the first 15 seconds of the game. 3 minutes later, Farminglade finds a rebuttal with a goal of their own from #34, assisted by #4. Alex Carey, number 8, doesn't let this go unnoticed, and scores one of his own with 9:30 left on the clock assisted by our Captain himself. Already with a lead, the Ducks go on to score another goal at 6:41, giving Tyler Buss his 2nd goal of the game. Shortly after, Farmingdale too finds the back of the net, burying one for their second at 4:58 left in the period. Farmingdale was given a penalty for interference with 3 minutes left on the clock. Tyler being Tyler, doesn't like the 1-0 game, and scores another to complete his hat-trick. Ducks end the period up 4-2. The second period doesn't start off as hot for the Ducks. Tommy Vella #24 catches an Interference penalty a minute and a half into the period, and Farmingdale #89 takes advantage, burying one. Another unanswered goal hits from #6 10 minutes later after a penalty from Ducks #72 Kevin McNamara for elbowing. In a shift of events, Farmingdale delivers a blow of a crosscheck into Ducks #11, sending him into the boards. As refs paused the game, the trainer diagnosed his collarbone to be shattered. A 5 minute penalty was handed to Farmingdale, however the Ducks couldn't capitalize. 4-4 game and Alex Carey doesn't like how close it is. He buries his second of the night with 17 seconds left in the period. Ducks end period 2 with a 5-4 lead. Period 3 opens up quietly, with both teams shooting on net and maintaining possession. With two minutes left in the period, Farmingdale calls a timeout, and pulls the goalie. Heartbreakingly, with a minute thirty on the clock, Farmingdale #80 shoves one past Jack Cozines pads in for the tying goal. In a shift of emotions, Farmingdale #89 goes on to score their 2nd of the period 30 seconds later, conclusively beating the ducks 6-5, in only a minute and thirty seconds.
