The Steven Archery Last Tournament in 2018

12.18.18

With finals period just around the corner, the Stevens Archery Team competed in their last tournament of the semester on December 8, 2018. For archers like Megan Choi, Calvin Han, Niko Stefanov, and me (Mia Walton), this was all familiar territory. However, it was a brand new experience for Ethan Andriola, Alfredo Batistini, and Mey Oliveres. The tournament was scored based on 60 arrows shot over the course of 20 rounds with a perfect score out of 600. The team did very well overall. Beginners were able to apply their semester-long training guided by Coach Gerald Ficeto and experience first-hand both the pressures and fun of shooting competitively. Consistency is one of the most important pillars of archery, and Megan and Mia were able to maintain their scores from the last tournament with only about a 10 point difference. Of course, refining technique is also vital to the sport, and Niko was able to approximately triple his score from the previous shoot. All in all, it was a great day to spend before everyone began hardcore studying for final exams.
