Ducks in the New Jersey Indoor Championship on Feb.19th

02.19.17

Stevens Archery Team competed in their first tournament of the spring semester on February 19th at the 2017 New Jersey Indoor Championship. The Stevens Team consisted of archers Mia, Will, Doug, Brian, Morgan, Kah, and Dan, led by Coach Ficeto. While the Stevens team attended the tournament at WoPeNa in Clifton, the statewide event was actually held at two additional locations this year, WaXoBe in Monmouth Junction and Atlantic Cape Community College in May's Landing. Because of the various times and locations to compete in this event, the range at WoPeNa was less crowded than expected. As such, the team was given an ample amount of space and a calm environment in which to shoot. The competition was 20 rounds of 3 arrows at 18 meters away. Usually there is a short break after the first half of shooting, but this time there was none, which really tested the team's endurance. Compound shooters Mia and Will used 3-spot targets, and the rest of the team as recurve shooters used single-spot targets. The 3-spot targets followed inner-10 scoring and the single-spot targets followed outer-10 scoring. The team enjoyed shooting at a new location this year and looks forward to competing at WoPeNa again in the future.
