Ducks Tie Rival NJIT

09.23.24

9/22 - Stevens returns to home ice as the away team to face off against New Jersey Institute of Technology. The NJIT Highlanders would be first to break the deadlock scoring two goals in the first period to take an early lead. Luckily the Ducks were able to capitalize on a power play opportunity late in the first when Nick Adams tipped home a shot from Paul Golembiewski to bring the lead down to 1. The Highlanders bounced back in the 2nd adding another to their lead just minutes into the period. That lead would hold until Dave Canales found the back of the net on the powerplay to once again bring the game back to one. It would take a powerplay and a 6th skater for the Ducks but in the winding seconds of the 3rd period Canales collected a loose puck kept in by Golembiewski and fired it past the Highlanders net-minder to even the score with 5 seconds remaining and push the game into overtime. After a rough 5-minute overtime period no winner was decided and the Ducks record moves to 0-2-1. Stevens looks to pick up their first win of the season when they take on the Fairfield University Stags on September 27th.
